I am currently pursuing my MBA through Kelley Direct. My professional career actually began when I started doing research at Indiana University Bloomington when I was only 16. I continued in the research position until I attended IU, where I studied virology and then theoretical physical chemistry. At the same time I managed a scientific project between IU and Purdue, which eventually led to a position at the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation.
I always thought science was great, but I wanted to be the person between science and business. Besides, I didn't have the capacity to sit in a lab for 40 hours a week so I decided to pursue business school instead. Halfway through my first semester I realized that business experience was equally as valuable as education, especially when you put them together. Since I didn't have any business experience, I decided to pursue an MBA while continuing to work at the Research and Technology Corporation.
I entered Kelley Direct after completing my core experience in a full-time program. I heard about Kelley Direct while at IU and found that it would allow me to combine the value of gaining real experience with business theory. The time between learning something in the virtual classroom versus applying it to my job would be significantly less than in a full-time MBA program. At Kelley Direct, I could learn a strategy and literally apply it the next morning. It provided a nice advantage while giving me the flexibility to balance school, work and my personal life.
I've completed two courses through Kelley Direct, and I've been satisfied with the experience thus far. The KD interface is very user-friendly, and the course material is identical to what you would see in a full-time program. My favorite part of the learning process has been critical analysis along with case studies. I've been able to apply what I learned in the cases directly to my business practices and conversations. Kelley Direct has given me a toolbox with which to approach business situations and a very valuable vocabulary that is necessary to communicate in today's global market.
Kelley Direct provides an MBA program to a wider audience, in a more flexible package. I'm currently in a relationship, and Kelley Direct's flexible format allows me to spend time with my girlfriend while still enabling me to complete my assignments. Besides helping students manage their time more effectively, Kelley Direct lets students learn at their own rate. Students are also able to transfer valuable experience and knowledge from a top-ranked business school to wherever they are in the world. The global nature of Kelley Direct permits students to develop a national network, an increasingly important commodity in the business field.
I would recommend Kelley Direct to other organizations and students. The program helps students acquire practical experience and theoretical knowledge concurrently without asking students to relocate their family. It's a low risk investment for the value of experience you gain.
